What an incredible day of mentoring! ELISE signed up for my full day mentoring where we not only went over my editing in depth in Photoshop, but we also went on a live shoot with models. This is soooooooo much fun and a great way to learn more about posing, lighting, metering/ exposures, and just have the all around experience of being on a shoot. I am very impressed with how quickly Elise was able to incorporate the editing into her photography. Check out her blog to see her edits! Alyssa and Missy did such a great job modeling for us! I've got so many more to share with you from our shoot. If you would like to model for one of my shoots, or know someone who would, e-mail me andeet8@gmail.com and send me a picture!
These two lovely gorgeous gals came up from southern Utah to mentor with me! I feel like the luckiest person, not only do I get to meet cool new people all the time, but we get to talk photoshop and photography, two of my greatest passions! They also hired me to get some new head shots. So here is the finished product!! Such a fun day!!!
My dilemma has always been choosing between something soft, faded, and more on the vintage neutral side...or bold, punchy, and colorful. I think it's important to know how to do both. Not all clients like the super punched up editing. It may not look right hanging on the walls of their home or blend with their decor, or even fit their style or personality. Trends come and go. If you make yourself a little more versatile, you can collaborate with your clients on the look they want and pull it off with full creative and artistic control! What looks good on your walls?
Finished up a few more edits from this mentoring session! Seriously, I LOVE mentoring. I have met some of the coolest people on line and in person and it has been so amazing to teach people and watch them have those light bulb moments and learn new techniques and tools to help their own photography soar! Nicki Wright of Nixi Photography was so much fun to spend the day with and is doing such a great job for a gal who's only been doing this for less than a year.
Also, I can't stress enough how fun it is to have a stylized session. It adds so much detail and intrestingness to the photographs. I have been collaborating with Carolee, the owner of JUNQUE DESIGN to stylize some of my sessions. Her prices range anywhere from $75-$200 depending on what you want/need for your session. Seriously photographers, she is amazing to work with, has so many killer props, and just oozes style. If you need to have a session stylized, I highly recommend hiring her!
Can I just say that I think these two are like the hottest couple.... quite possibly on the planet! I love the trust we have built. They are always so great to work with and let me have complete creative control. You will see them on my blog again over the years I am sure.
Can I just say I LOVE red hair. So fun to photograph! Kenzie has such a fun personality and we had a total blast out on this shoot. Pretty much laughed from start to finish! I don't know what it is, seems like that's all I do on shoots anymore is just goof around and laugh! She's smart, sassy, and just all around the sweetest girl ever!
